In daily life he was a woodcraftsman.
The Wehrpass opens at 20-5-1940 with 4. (M.G.) Kompanie 348 based in Hameln, Weser.

The last unit was part of the 9. Armee wich was involved to stop the Allied landings in Normandy 1944.
With this unit he must have brought supplies to the Normandy front.
On 9-8-1944 he was killed in action in the area of La Haye East of Rouen. Most probarly he must have been a target of a Allied fighterplane searching for ground targets.
He was first burried on the Monumental cemetery in Rouen and later found his final resting place at the German war cemetary of Champigny-St. Andre.
