The 42. Jager Division fought in the area of Bologna.
In February 1945, it moved east to the Adriatic Coast near Ravenna, then Ferrara. Following the Allied offensive in April 1945, the 42.JD was effectively destroyed withdrawing across the Po river.
War crimes
The 42. Jager Division is one of several implicated in the Ronchidoso massacre, Emilia- Romagna between 28 and 30 November 1944, when 66 civilians were executed.
