Small citation grouping to an member of 3./Fallschirm Flak Abteilung 4 wich was part of the 4. Fallschirmjager Division wich was operating in Italy.

During the Anzio battles he got wounded for the first time on 28 February 1944 and was awarded the Wounded badge in Black on 14 March 1944.

On 20 April 1944 he was awarded the Flakkampfabzeichen.

Nice so-called “Vordruck” or special print of the citation wich was signed by the Divisional commander:

- Generalleutnant Heinrich Trettner (Knightscross with Oakleaves)

 

After the Anzio battles  the division fought a rear guard action in front of Rome and was the last German unit to leave the city on 4 June.

He didn’t make it to Rome but sadly was KIA on 23-5-1944 south of Rome in battle against American tanks while operating as Richtschutze.
His crew knocked-out an American tank and received and direct hit.

He was burried in Pavona about 5km southwest of Castel Gandolfo with his comrades.

It comes with 2 letter and a small picture most probarly of him with his comrades.

Used condition, has been folded and the paper has been faded.
