On 11 November 1944 the Germans blew up the church tower in Ammerzoden wich caused a lot of damage.
The suspected reason for demolishing the tower was that the Allies could use it as aiming point.
His lastname on the death card is as Mayerhofer.

Nowdays he rests on the German war cemetery of Ysselsteyn in the Netherlands.
