Citation EK 2 Grenadier Regiment 744 – Ossendrecht – Woensdrecht 1944

EK 2 citation to Gefreiter Gunther Volkmann who was a member of the Stabskompanie of Grenadier Regiment 744.

This Regiment was part of the 711. Infanterie Division who had fought previously in Normandy and had withdrawn towards the Belgium - Dutch border.

The Grenadier Regiment 744 was temporarily attached to the 346. Infanterie Division and fought north of Antwerp near Cappellen and in early October 1944 around Ossendrecht and Hoogerheide.

Because of bravery shown on the battlefield he was awarded the EK 2 on 15 October 1944.

The document was signed by Generalmajor und Divisionskommandeur of the 346. Infanterie Division Walter Steinmüller.
