He died on 23 December 1944 and is Nowdays burried on the German war cemetery of Lommel, Belgium.

According to the date and cemetary we can assume he must have died during the Ardennes battles.

He was awarded the EK 2, Nahkampfspange in Silber (for 30! Close combat days) and other awards.

So he must have been an veteran of the East- and/or Sudfront before the Ardennes.
