Grouping to Obergefreiter Richard Bodenstedt.

In 1940 he was part of 11./Infanterie Regiment 59 of the 19. Infanterie Division.

On 10 May 1940 the division took part in Operation Fall Gelb and crossed the Dutch - German border and had to take the bridge at Buggenum. Here it had it’s first casualties.

From here it headed towards Belgium and went to Beeringen, Lummen, Hasselt, Diest, Lowen, Brussel, Dixmuiden among others.

After the fall of Belgium the Division marched towards France but was held in reserve.

In November 1940 the 19. Infanterie Division was used to built the 20. Panzer Division.

With this division he fought from 1941 untill his death in 1943 in Russia. During the summer of 1943 the Division took part in Operation Zitadelle or the battle at Kursk.

On 9-11-1943 he was KIA.
