On 1-10-1943 he started his military career with Stamm Kompanie Grenadier ersatz Battalion 590 based in Hameln.

The Battalion was renamed to Reserve Grenadier Battalion 590 and was send to Diksmuide Belgium.
On 1 August 1944 he became part of 10./Artillerie Regiment 148 of the 48. Infanterie Division.

The Division was deployed in Belgium for coastal defense but after the German demise in Normandy sent to France.

In the area of Paris it had the task to build a defense line together with the 9. Panzer Division and the 338. Infanterie Division.

On 26-8-1944 he was KIA on the road to Mormant.

Could have been KIA by French resistance.
