KIA Wehrpass grouping 170. Infanterie Division

Wehrpass Grouping to Obergefreiter Kruger.

Kruger served before the war within the RAD or Reichsarbeitsdienst.

On 1-4-1940 he was drafted into military service and got trained as an Artillerie man where he gott trained with the Schwere Feldhaubitze 18 wich was an 15 cm heavy gun.

After his basictrainings he became part of:

- Schwere Artillerie Abteilung 757

- Artillerie Regiment 240, 170. Infanterie Division.

With the 170. Infanterie Division he took part in operation Barbarossa in 1941 and fought at the Krim, Kertsch, Sevastopol, Cherson and many other places.

He was awarded

1. Ostmedaille

2. EK 2

3. Krimshield

In early 1943 he lost his life by an artillerie direct hit on 21 January 1943.

4. Citation for the EK 2 signed by the divisional commander Generalmajor Erwin Sander. (In 1944 the commander of the 245. ID and active in the Netherlands) Ritterkreuz on 3-9-1942

5. Letter to his family about his death.

6. Remembrance card

7. 2 small photo’s of SA man Hans Maikowski who died 30-1-1933 the day AH took the power in Germany.  He got killed by and an ti fa communist. Maikowski’s death was used for propaganda by the nazis.
