Second issue Soldbuch to Unteroffizier Paul Krehl.

The Soldbuch opens at 31-5-1943 with Genesenden Kompanie Grenadier ersatz Battalion 60 based in Rheine, Germany.

He had been fighting on the Eastfront previously and was awarded:

- Ostmedaille

- Wounded badge in Black

In early 1944 he was transferred to an fieldunit:

- Panzergrenadier Regiment 156 of the 116. Panzer Division “Windhund”.

The Division was newly built in March 1944 in France from the remnants of the 16. Panzergrenadier Division and the 179. Reserve Panzer Division.

After D-day the Division was first held in reserve but on 19 Juli it received order to move to the front in Normandy wich lasted 5 days.

The Division came into action north of Mortain and fought later in the Falaise pocket.

Somewhere during the Normandy battles or it’s retreat he must have been taken POW.

Used condition, missing the backcover and a small piece of the front cover. It has been taped.
