On 10 May 1940 the 227. Infanterie Division took part in Operation Fall Gelb.
It crossed the IJssel river at Zutphen and headed towards the northern part of the Grebbestelling / Grebbe defenceline north of Veenendaal at “De Klomp” and near Scherpenzeel togheter with SS Leibstandarte.
After the capitulation of the Netherlands the Division was headed towards Belgium were It saw limit action.
On 5 July 1940 he was awarded the EK 2 for bravery shown on the battlefield most likely for actions in the Netherlands.
In 1941 the Division took part in Operation Barbarossa as part of Heeresgruppe Nord and came into action around Leningrad and the Wolchow area.
He faced the cold winter of 1941 - 1942 and was awarded the Ostmedaille on 25-7-1942.
In 1944 he was awarded the Kriegsverdienstenkreuz 2 Klasse mit Schwerten.
He received an FN Pistol.
Used condition, taped but complete with all pages.
