6. Fallschirmjager Division
On September 24, 1944, the 6. Fallschirmjager Division was ordered to be re-strengthened. Due to the division's destruction in France, this re-strengthening had to be carried out as a new formation.
The formation took place in the Kleve-Geldern-Moers area, with elements in the Netherlands near Elden, Meppel, and Coevorden.
The division's soldiers were primarily drawn from Luftwaffe ground units, air communications regiments, and anti-aircraft units.
On November 19, 1944, the division took over the defensive area north of the Waal River, previously held by the II SS Panzer Corps, on the left wing of the LXXXVIII Army Corps. Its formation stretched from the town of Angeren, southeast of Arnhem, westward via Elst, Valburg, and Zetten to Opheusden.
On December 20, 1944, the division handed over its position to the 2. Fallschirmjager Division and took up new positions adjacent to the 2. FJD , extending to the Waal bend near Echteld? and from 22 December along the Meuse / Maas River to the Hollandsch Diep. Around this time he got wounded by schrapnel (woundcode -31b-) and was brought to 2.Kriegslazarett 613 wich was at that time based in Oosterbeek - Arnhem.
