Flieger Regiment 53 was stationed in Belgium and in September 1944 it was one of the many units that were thrown into battle in northern Belgium. It fought at Geel and Ten Aard where it suffered many casualties!
It withdrawn to the south of the Netherlands where it was involved in the battles around the corridor during Operation Market Garden near Son and St. Oedenrode.
On 4 December 1944 he became part of 8./Fallschirmjager ersatz und Ausbildungs Battalion 3.
In 1945 this unit fought at Warnsveld and Zutphen.
The last entry in the Soldbuch is from 10-2-1945 when he received some equipment. He must have been taken POW somewhere during these last months.
