Soldbuch Oberstleutnant Ditzell Commander Division zbv 406 Westfront 1945

Soldbuch Oberstleutnant Ditzell

Division zbv 406

Out of stock

First issue Soldbuch to Oberstleutnant Karl Emil Heinrich Ludwig Ditzell.

The Soldbuch opens at 20-8-1939 and was handed-out by Wehrbezirks Kommando Koblenz.

In daily life he was an Offizier and had served during World War 1.

In 1943 he served with III./Grenadier Regiment 350 of the 221. Sicherungs Division on the Eastfront.

With this Regiment he was involved in 3 separate Assault days wich counted for the Infantry Assault Badge wich was awarded on 19-1-1944.
Somewhere in 1944 he got transferred to Landesschutzen Battalion 997. At least before 1-9-1944 as seen on the security stamp on page 15. The Battalion took part in the Warsaw uprising.
In late 1944 or early 1945 I assume that he must have taken over command of Division zbv 406.

The Division had fought against the 82nd Airborne Division in the Groesbeek area during Operation Market Garden.

The both previously commanders had been killed in action;

01.10.1939 – 18.12.1944 Generalleutnant Gerd Scherbening.         († 18.12.1944)

19.12.1944 – 25.12.1944 Generalmajor Kurt Kühme                        († 25.12.1944, Hellschlag, Eifel)

In 1945 the Division zbv 406 got destroyed near the Wesel bridgehead, Bruggen - Rheinberg.
