He must have been an veteran of the First World War and had been awarded:

- EK 2

- Ehrenkreuz fur Frontkampfer

During the early years of the war he had served as an Truckdriver.

The Wehrmacht Fuhrerschein or Driverslicense are dated 1-3-1940 and handed out by Kraftfahr ersatz Abteilung 2 based in Stettin.

He was transferred from the Heer to the Waffen SS in late 1943 with the age of 44!
He must have been an experienced veteran and although his age he was very welcome within the Waffen SS.

The Soldbuch opens at 18-10-1943 with Stamm Kompanie SS Panzergrenadier Ausbildungs- und ersatz Battalion 9 based in Stralsund.

After his basictrainings he became part of Feld ersatz Battalion 9 and later on of 7./SS Panzergrenadier Regiment 20 of the 9. SS Panzer Division Hohenstaufen.
On 21-2-1944 and 25-5-1944 he received an Belgian Pistol.
During the spring of 1944 the Division fought together with the Frundsberg Division on the Easternfront in Ukraine.

After the Allies started Operation Overlord or the invasion of France in Normandy the Divisions where hastily send to the West arriving late June 1944 at the Caen sector.

During the battles around Haut des Forges - Grainville sur Odon and Rauray on 29 and 30 June the Hohenstaufen Division lost around 500 men, MIA, KIA, WIA.

During these battles he got wounded by a bullet, woundcode -31a-

On 3 Juli 1944 he enters Kriegs Sammelstelle Paris.

On 13-9-1944 he was released from the hospital and went to an ersatz unit.

On 13-10-1944 he received equipment from A (usbildungs) Battalion 9 most probarly also from the Hohenstaufen Division.

According to the entries on page 4 he served also with;

SS Fuhrerschule des Verwaltungsdienstes based in Arolsen and with the SS Wirtschafts-Verwaltungshauptamt-Personalamt based in Berlin, Lichterfelde West.

On 29-3-1945 he died in a hospital in Korbach, Germany.

Needs further research on the last months of the war.
